Davidson Celebrates Plastic-Free July

Jul 10, 2025

Davidson is committed to identifying areas within our portfolio to save, reuse, and conserve, from reducing our reliance on single-use items, to taking action in the fight against food waste. We’re continuously optimizing our operations with sustainability in mind. It’s all part of our company-wide commitment to fostering greener, healthier, more sustainable environments within our hotels, resorts, and restaurants.

This month marks Plastic Free July, a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Here’s how we are participating and being responsible environmental stewards:

The Singer Oceanfront Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton

  • PATH Water Bottles: At The Singer, we’ve partnered with PATH to provide two reusable water bottles in every guest room, making it easy for guests to stay hydrated while reducing single-use plastic. Refill stations are conveniently located on every guest floor, in the lobby, and by the pool.

Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, a Hilton Resort & Spa

  • Over the past three years, the F&B department has systematically converted our disposables (plastic utensils, to-go containers, napkins, etc.) to 100% biodegradable and compostable, single-use disposables.
  • At the same time, we have reduced our paper and plastic expenses by over 24%. This was accomplished by putting a property-wide focus on reducing the use of disposable cups, cutlery, and packaging for all employee beverages and meals.

  • At check-in, every registered guest receives a complimentary PATH® Water bottle, a refillable and recyclable aluminum vessel that can be filled at one of our multiple hydration stations located throughout the property.
  • We’ve adopted innovative technologies to minimize our environmental impact, including Hilton’s Digital Key and RFID-chipped reusable wristbands, which serve as sustainable alternatives to traditional plastic room keys. By leveraging these digital solutions, we’re able to significantly reduce our use of single-use plastics, eliminate the need for printed invoices, and decrease overall waste, ultimately contributing to a more eco-friendly guest experience.
